How do I reserve a book to be picked up?

The first thing you need to know is that the words requests and holds and reserves are interchangeable. When you place a request, your name is put on a list of people waiting for an item in the Library’s collection. When the item becomes available for you, we notify you by telephone or email to pick up the item, notify you and place the item on a bookmobile for you, or mail the item to you.

Generally, you may place a request on any item that checks out. Reference materials, newspapers, and some magazines do not check out. You can have a maximum of 25 items on hold.

How to Place a Hold using the Catalog

  1. Locate the item you want by searching the library catalog.
  2. If the item is not currently available, click Place a Hold.
  3. Use your library barcode and password to login.
  4. Select a pickup location and confirm the hold. There are many pickup locations in our community!
